Solving the Deposit Surge Mystery: Unraveling Historical Growth with Data Analytics

On-Demand Webinar (June 30, 2021)

Billy Guthrie

Joe Kennerson

Managing Director

Darling Consulting Group

Joe is a Managing Director at Darling Consulting Group. In this capacity, he works directly with financial institutions by providing solutions for their asset liability management process in the areas of interest rate risk, liquidity risk management, ALM modeling, regulatory compliance and executive-level education. He is a frequent speaker and author and directly advises clients in all aspects of ALM.

The unprecedented COVID deposit surge has cushioned liquidity levels and interest rate risk sensitivities but also has created tremendous uncertainty on the stability of this growth. The industry is now challenged with all-time low margins in an environment of historic low interest rates and faced with the dilemma of how aggressively to redeploy this “excess” liquidity. Our goal for this webinar is to help bring clarity to the historical deposit surge and share ideas to help prepare for what is next.

Join DCG’s Joe Kennerson and Billy Guthrie as they share observations on the current state of the deposit landscape and provide strategic insights on issues facing financial institutions of all sizes. With live case studies leveraging our new Deposits360°® Cross-Institution Analytics platform, which includes over 2 billion individual deposit records, spanning two decades of rate cycles with 4,700 branches in 48 states, DCG will present key trends with actionable insights.

Highlights of the webinar include:

  • Quantifying the surge magnitude to help inform your risk models

  • Identifying the source of the deposit surge and where it resides on your balance sheet

  • Projecting potential outcomes to gain confidence in what cash levels may look like in the future

  • Gaining confidence in redeploying excess cash based on the deposit analysis

  • Risk management implications…how has the recent surge impacted your risk models?
