Q1 2025 Deposit Outlook for Deposits360°® Clients

Billy Guthrie

Deposit Consultant

Darling Consulting Group

Billy is a Deposit Consultant at Darling Consulting Group, working directly with financial institution executives to validate and better understand key deposit assumptions utilized in risk models. In addition to supporting core deposit study analyses, he also educates DCG’s client base on utilizing data analytics to support strategic deposit decisions through Deposits360°®, DCG’s proprietary tool.

Billy began his career with DCG in 2008 as a financial analyst. He is a graduate of the University of New Hampshire with a degree in finance and management.

The past few years have presented significant challenges for deposit gatherers across the banking industry. However, as the saying goes, "tough times create strong people," and many successful bankers have leveraged these challenges to reexamine and enhance their deposit strategies. Many have utilized data and technology to gain a competitive edge, invested in personnel and training, and reimagined product offerings and pricing.

Looking ahead to 2025, optimism is emerging regarding deposit base management. However, scaling back deposit gathering efforts could be a critical misstep. Although rates have declined, it is likely that we will continue to operate in a 4% environment for the remainder of the year. While recent deposit growth has been encouraging, it has remained below 3%. A competitive landscape is expected to persist. Institutions that proactively prepare for this challenge stand to gain market share and basis points in the upcoming quarters. How will you navigate the delicate balance between reducing costs and achieving growth targets?

In this exclusive session, Billy Guthrie and Mike Reardon will explore key data trends, introduce the NEW CD Forecasting Module, and provide real-world case studies to offer actionable strategies for managing deposits in the current climate.
